How quickly and easily scan a film negative into digital form.
I still shoot film and sometimes want a quick scan of a negative so I can share it over the web. Some of you may not shoot film, but maybe you have some old negatives from years ago you want to convert into digital pictures. I am going to show you the cheapest, quickest and easiest way I have found to do this.
it is important to note that this method is not as high resolution as a scan from an Epson V550 or other dedicated film scanner. This method will provide a useable picture with enough resolution for small prints or web sharing on Facebook or Instagram.
This video is a demonstration of how to scan those negatives with a smartphone and common household items.
To make this scanning technique work that is explained in the video, you will need the following items:
1. iPhone or other smart phone device.
2. Film negatives
3. iPad or PC monitor with white background
4. One 4 to 6 inch tall cardboard box
5. Three cans of tune unopened and undented
6. Two pieces of 8×10 glass from cheap picture frames.
The video demonstrates the exact technique I use to scan 35mm and 120 film negatives using only these items.
I hope this helps some people and as always, thanks for stopping by.
